Step Up recently received the coveted Best in Excellence award at the recent Action On Film International Film Festival in Pasadena, CA. The documentary reveals the effects of absentee fathers on both the child(ren) and the family as a whole. It follows the stories of several fathers who are either struggling to fulfill their obligations as fathers, and/or facing their feelings regarding their own absent fathers. The film’s goal is to draw awareness to the negative impacts left on a child’s psyche when the father is not a part of his or her life.
